Grounds Maintenance Operative

Job Title

Grounds Maintenance Operative Fixed Term Contract until 30th October 2026

Contract & Salary

  • Contract Type: Fixed Term (until 30/10/2026)
  • Salary: £24,507.16 per annum
  • Working Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Hybrid
  • Location: Stoa-on-Trent

About the Role

To undertake a range of grounds maintenance work within assigned landscaped areas, gardens, and open spaces owned by Riverside Housing Group.


About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Environmental services / grounds maintenance experience
  • Ability to undertake manual work
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills
  • Valid clean driving licence
  • Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)

Desirable:

  • Successful completion of a horticultural course

Role Profile – Key Responsibilities

  • General maintenance of hard & soft landscaped areas (grass-cutting, hedge-trimming, litter pickup, etc.)
  • Rapid response to handling fly-tipping, rubbish removal, and graffiti
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols when using hand tools/machinery
  • Escalation of health, safety & environmental breaches to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
  • Deliver excellent customer service within ‘Our Riverside Way’
  • Monitor community feedback & environmental issues, reporting to supervisors
  • Collaborate flexibly with all teams across the organisation
  • Uphold compliance with Group policies, procedures, and legal obligations
  • Maintain equal opportunities integrity while avoiding discriminatory practices

Additional Information

  • Travel required – occasional work across UK locations, including Camden & Dartford
  • Confidentiality – sensitive data handling expected at all times
