Job Title
Grounds Maintenance Operative Fixed Term Contract until 30th October 2026
Contract & Salary
- Contract Type: Fixed Term (until 30/10/2026)
- Salary: £24,507.16 per annum
- Working Hours: 35 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Hybrid
- Location: Stoa-on-Trent
About the Role
To undertake a range of grounds maintenance work within assigned landscaped areas, gardens, and open spaces owned by Riverside Housing Group.
About You
Essential Requirements:
- Environmental services / grounds maintenance experience
- Ability to undertake manual work
- Customer-focused with excellent communication skills
- Valid clean driving licence
- Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
Desirable:
- Successful completion of a horticultural course

Role Profile – Key Responsibilities
- General maintenance of hard & soft landscaped areas (grass-cutting, hedge-trimming, litter pickup, etc.)
- Rapid response to handling fly-tipping, rubbish removal, and graffiti
- Strict adherence to safety protocols when using hand tools/machinery
- Escalation of health, safety & environmental breaches to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
- Deliver excellent customer service within ‘Our Riverside Way’
- Monitor community feedback & environmental issues, reporting to supervisors
- Collaborate flexibly with all teams across the organisation
- Uphold compliance with Group policies, procedures, and legal obligations

Additional Information
- Travel required – occasional work across UK locations, including Camden & Dartford
- Confidentiality – sensitive data handling expected at all times

Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Grounds maintenance / environmental services background
- Manual labour capabilities
- Customer communication strengths
- Clean driving licence
- Proficient in basic Microsoft Office
Excellent team player who can address business flexibility demands.
Desirable Qualifications
- Completing a horticultural course
