Grounds Supervisor
Grounds Manager – Gunton Hall, Warner Hotels Group
Join our team at Gunton Hall, part of the Warner Hotels Group—this 212-bedroom coastal hotel boasts a rural feel, nestled among Suffolk woodland, gardens, a lake, and a pitch-and-putt course.

Guests come to us to make memories, discover new experiences, and feel truly cared for—and as Grounds Manager, you’ll play a critical role in bringing that magic to life.
The Grounds Manager is responsible for the planning, maintenance, and presentation of all outdoor spaces at Gunton Hall, ensuring a safe, attractive, and welcoming environment for guests, teams, and golf members.
You’ll work closely with:
- The Golf Manager
- The Head Greenkeeper
- The Property Manager and wider hotel teams
Your work will ensure year-round grounds operations, supporting guest satisfaction, brand standards, and biodiversity objectives through:
- Maintenance of the golf course, pathways, and landscaped areas
- Safety and compliance for all external areas
- Efficient use of resources, sustainability, and cost control
Key Responsibilities
Grounds Management
- Lead day-to-day operations to meet high standards of presentation, safety, and guest satisfaction.
- Plan and programme year-round grounds activity, using appropriate tools, machinery, and systems.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, policies, and legal requirements, maintaining accurate records.
- Take full accountability for health and safety within the grounds team.

Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and develop the grounds team (internal and external contractors).

Budget Management
- Manage grounds budgets to deliver cost-effective results while maintaining quality and safety.
- Collaborate with the Property Manager to forecast in-year spending and control utility and water usage.
Supplier Management
- Maintain strong relationships with external suppliers, ensuring quality delivery, value for money, and compliance.
Safety and Compliance
- Support the Property Manager in adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all external areas, walkways, and access routes are safe, well-maintained, and appropriately signed.
Sustainability and Initiative
- Implement sustainable grounds practices to reduce environmental impact.
- Support utility and water usage targets through practical engagement.
- Contribute to the hotel’s Green Team activities.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and ground activities.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Property Manager and General Manager.
- Promptly report defects or maintenance issues.

Essential Qualifications
- Good knowledge of grounds maintenance, landscaping, and seasonal planning.
- Health and safety awareness for outdoor working environments.
- Deep understanding of sustainability and biodiversity practices.
- Proven planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with hands-on attention to safety and presentation.
Leadership and Operational
- Ability to lead and develop a small team and manage external contractors effectively.
- Previous experience in grounds management, landscaping, or estate maintenance.
Administrative Mastery
- Budget, resource, and supplier management experience.
- Relevant horticultural or grounds-related qualifications (or equivalent professional experience).
