Job Overview
To carry out a wide range of groundworks and civil engineering activities on construction projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. The role involves concreting, shuttering, drainage installation, flagging, kerbing, excavation support, and general groundwork duties.
Responsibilities
- Carry out all aspects of general groundworks on civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare sites for construction activities, including excavation, levelling, and setting out assistance.
- Install and maintain drainage systems, including foul, storm, and surface water drainage.
- Lay pipes, chambers, manholes, gullies, and associated drainage infrastructure.
- Construct and dismantle timber and proprietary shuttering/formwork for concrete works.
- Place, compact, finish, and cure concrete to specification.
- Install paving, flagging, kerbing, edging, and hard landscaping works.
- Carry out trenching, backfilling, and reinstatement activities.
- Operate small plant and tools where trained and authorised.
- Read and work from drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
- Ensure compliance with project quality requirements and tolerances.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area.
- Work alongside plant operators, engineers, and other site personnel to achieve project objectives.
- Report any defects, hazards, or safety concerns to site management.

Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Groundworker on civil engineering or construction projects.
- Experience in:
- Concreting and concrete finishing.
- Shuttering/formwork construction.
- Drainage installation and repairs.
- Flagging, paving, and kerbing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CSCS Card.

- CPCS or NPORS plant operator qualifications.
- Confined Space certification.
- Street Works (NRSWA) qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
