Groundworker

Who are we?

Bauer Media Outdoor are a leading Out of Home media owner, operating more than 33,000 advertising sites nationwide. We are a friendly and culture led company who value and support our employees to be the best they can be. We also care about the communities we work with and the environment too!

A few years ago, we brought the construction of our advertising sites in house. Since then, the team have been extremely successful in delivering hundreds of site builds, including our newest digital units, billboards and large Storm installations.

We're excited to be working on some interesting projects this year and now looking for a

Groundworker to join our growing team in our Kings Norton Depot.

About The Role

The role will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) within the Birmingham and wider Midlands area and will occasionally require you to work away from home along with some evening or weekend work. We'll provide you with a van to get around and arrange accommodation for any overnight stays.

You will be working in a small team installing steel structures and digital advertising screens. Groundwork will include hand and machine excavations for large mass concrete foundations, and underground ducting works where an understanding of safe excavation techniques, including surveying for underground apparatus is essential.

We are looking for someone with competence in reading technical drawings and being able to set out to line and level. You will cast mass concrete and steel foundations and finish the groundworks phase in a variety of surfacing materials ranging from top soiling/soft landscaping or hard landscaping such as slabs/pavers/tarmac or floated concrete.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
