Summary
Caddick Civil Engineering, part of the Caddick Construction Group, specialises in delivering high quality civil engineering projects across Residential, Industrial and Commercial markets.
We pride ourselves on delivering the highest standards of quality and safety, and provide ongoing training and long-term career opportunities through a strong and secure pipeline of work.
We are seeking experienced Groundworkers to support our project in Halifax and across wider West Yorkshire area.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, removing obstructions, and digging trenches
- Carry out excavation work using machinery such as diggers and excavators
- Lay foundations, including concrete, sub-bases, and drainage systems
- Prepare and level surfaces for paving, roads, and flooring installations
- Install drainage systems, sewer lines, and utility conduits (water and electricity)
- Ensure safe working conditions by supporting excavations and maintaining site safety
- Load, unload, and transport materials such as sand, gravel, and cement
- Deliver work in line with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
- Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and site teams to keep projects running smoothly
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety, and that of others, in line with company policies

What We’re Looking For
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Groundworker or in a similar construction role
- Experience operating construction machinery (e.g. excavators, dumpers, compactors)
- Good understanding of construction site health and safety procedures
- Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks, including lifting and excavation work
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery for groundwork operations
- Valid CSCS card
- First Aid certification (desirable)
