Job Description
We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and hardworking Groundworker to join our forestry works team. This is a purely hands-on position combining civil groundworks and plant operation across various rural and woodland projects. You will play a key role in ensuring our projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard, while strictly adhering to on-site health and safety protocols.
Our Projects & Types of Work
Our team manages vital infrastructure and environmental maintenance contracts across expansive woodland environments. Your day-to-day operations will regularly include:
- Forestry Road Networks: Upgrading, repairing, and maintaining timber extraction routes, haul roads, and forest tracks to withstand heavy machinery.
- Drainage & Culvert Works: Improving and installing complex drainage systems, ditches, and culverts to manage water flow across rural terrains.
- Civil Engineering & Infrastructure: Groundwork preparations for, and the installation of, bridges, walkways, and other woodland crossings.
- Revetments & Bank Stabilisation: Installing timber or stone revetments and erosion control measures to secure banks and waterways.

Key Responsibilities
- Plant Operation: Safely and efficiently operate machinery for forestry and civil engineering works.
- Groundworks: Execute practical, hands-on groundworks (drilling, trenching, pipe laying, and manual tasks) as required by the project.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Strictly follow risk assessments, site safety rules, and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
Requirements & Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced groundworker who meets the following criteria:
- CPCS Machine Card (Mandatory): You must hold a valid CPCS card to apply for this role. We are looking for operators with experience in Dumper, Roller, or Digger works—you do not need to hold all three tickets, but a current CPCS card is essential. Please Note: We strictly require CPCS or equivalent recognised qualifications. We do not accept NPORS for this role.
- Experience: A strong, proven background in groundworks, civil engineering, or forestry infrastructure.
- Driving Licence: Full, clean UK Driving Licence.
- First Aid: A current First Aid at Work certificate is highly desirable.
