Role Overview

We are looking for reliable and hardworking Groundworkers / Groundworker Labourers to join our team on a busy project in Sittingbourne.

The successful candidates will assist with a range of groundwork activities, supporting skilled operatives and plant operators to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role is ideal for experienced groundworkers as well as labourers with previous construction or civils experience looking to develop their skills.

We have long-term work available, 10 hours paid per day, with competitive rates for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with all aspects of groundwork operations.
  • General site preparation and labouring duties.
  • Digging and preparing trenches for drainage, ducting, and other services.
  • Assisting with the installation of drainage systems, pipes, manholes, chambers, and gullies.
  • Hand digging around live services when required.
  • Assisting with kerbing, edging, paving, and slab laying works.
  • Loading, unloading, and moving materials around site.
  • Supporting plant operators and acting as a banksman when required.
  • Backfilling and reinstatement works.
  • Maintaining site cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  • Using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Following site instructions and health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Working effectively as part of a team to achieve programme targets.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Previous experience in groundworks, construction, civils, or labouring.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding work.
  • Confident working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be clean shaven to comply with site face-fit and RPE requirements.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team.
  • Right to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE

  • Previous groundworks or drainage experience.
  • CPCS/NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper.
  • CPCS/NPORS Ride-On Roller.
  • CAT & Genny Qualification.
  • Traffic Marshal / Banksman Training.
  • Safety Critical Medical.
  • Manual Handling Certification.
  • Street Works (NRSWA) Qualification.
