Drive your career forward with this exciting apprenticeship opportunity. Our Service Technicians/Mechanics are involved in all aspects of maintenance and repair, from routine servicing to complex diagnostics and repairs on our customers' vehicles.
The Service department is vital to the success of our business. From right first-time fixes to delivering excellent customer service, our Service Technicians/Mechanics play a pivotal role in delighting our customers and encouraging their continued loyalty.
Every day is different within the Service department. As a Service Technician/Mechanic apprentice, some of your duties will include:
- Use of diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults
- Testing of parts and systems to ensure correct working
- Following checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined
- Carrying out bumper to bumper overview, service, and inspection
- Maintenance of electronic systems including on-board entertainment systems
- Undertaking repair and maintenance of vehicle parts including clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes, and suspension
- Completion of legible and accurate paperwork for customer and centre records
- Maintenance of a clean and tidy work environment
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of products, including traditional, hybrid, and electronic engines. From heritage vehicles to leading-edge modern technology, our range will provide you with a varied technical training experience to build your skills as a Service Technician/Mechanic.
Requirements
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate skills in logic and problem-solving. You should be someone who pays attention to detail and is committed to completing this three-year training programme.

Essential qualifications:
- GCSE in: English (grade 9 – 4 (A – C))
- Maths (grade 9 – 4 (A – C))
- Science (grade 9 – 4 (A – C))

Responsibilities
Training course: Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician - light vehicle (level 3)
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop. Segregate waste for disposal or recycling. Comply with industry environmental legislation.
- Demonstrate due regard for own safety and that of others in the workshop and minimise risk of injury and vehicle damage.
- Carry out fundamental tasks associated with removal and replacement procedures on a vehicle.
- Obtain diagnostic and repair information.
- Interpret diagnostic information and use electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability.
- Use a range of diagnostic equipment.
- Follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques to establish faults.
- Report faults using company procedures and recommend suitable further actions.
- Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs, including those which involve complex procedures or in-depth knowledge.
- Test the function of repaired and fitted components.
- Adhere to business processes and complete documentation following workplace procedures.
- Use ICT to create emails, word-process documents and carry out web-based searches.
- Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer.
