We're seeking a talented Group Accountant to join an ambitious, award-winning organisation that has supported thousands of UK businesses through innovative funding solutions. As the business enters its next phase of growth, this is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of the finance team, contributing to the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong governance, and continuous process improvement.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll play a vital role in weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting activities, while also helping to drive strategic finance projects and system enhancements.

The Role

As Group Accountant, you'll be responsible for supporting the finance function across a broad range of financial reporting and control activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the review of monthly Group Management Accounts.
  • Review journals and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Produce and investigate balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the correct application of accounting policies and maintain robust financial controls and governance.
  • Lead and support finance improvement projects, including the implementation of new systems and processes.
  • Provide support with daily finance operations, including customer receipt allocations, settlement calculations and inbox management.
  • Work collaboratively across the finance team to improve efficiency and reporting standards.

About You

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys both technical accounting and process improvement.

Essential Requirements

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA or ICAEW).
  • Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including SUMIFS, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
