Your Role
James Walker Group Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Group Accountant to join its finance team at the Woking Head Office.
You’ll report to the Group Financial Controller and play a critical role in:
- Supporting financial reporting, tax, and compliance processes
- Contributing to strategic finance projects and system implementations
This role offers international operational exposure and the opportunity to enhance reporting, forecasting, and accounting practices within the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Group Reporting & Consolidation
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual group consolidation
- Analyse financial performance across subsidiaries, providing insights for senior management
- Manage intercompany eliminations and reconciliations

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Collaborate with regional finance teams to support group budgeting and forecasting cycles
- Provide variance analysis with actionable commentary on key financial trends
Technical Accounting & Projects
- Support implementation and compliance with FRS 102 accounting standards, including:
- Revenue recognition (FRS 102 Section 23)
- Lease accounting (FRS 102 Section 20)
- Prepare technical accounting papers and align with UK GAAP requirements
- Guide local finance teams on technical accounting matters
- Assist with insurance renewal processes and risk management
- Support internal audits
Tax Compliance
- Review UK corporation tax computations and returns
- Manage tax reporting, including:
- UK current and deferred tax calculations (FRS 102-compliant)
- Liaise with external advisors for UK and international tax compliance
- Assist with:
- R&D Credit (RDEC) claims
- Transfer pricing across the Group (e.g. benchmarking studies, documentation updates for audits)
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support LucaNet deployment (reporting/forecasting tool), including:
- Data validation
- User training
- Identify process improvements to drive automation and efficiency
- Support finance transformation initiatives across the Group
- Optimise LucaNet consolidation and forecasting systems

Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with finance teams across multiple geographies
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external auditors
- Assist with audit processes, providing required documentation and explanations
About You
Preferred Skills & Experience
✔ Qualified/part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with ≥3 years’ industry experience ✔ Proven expertise in:
- Group accounting & consolidation
- Multi-entity financial reporting
- Group-level budgeting/forecasting
- Corporation tax & UK tax compliance ✔ Familiarity with FRS 102 (Sections 20 and 23 preferred) ✔ Hands-on experience with LucaNet or similar systems (desirable)
Essential Skills & Experience
