Group Accountant (up to £50,000 per annum)

About the Role

The Group Accountant role sits within the Group Finance team, responsible for Group financial reporting and analysis, treasury and cash flow management, consolidation of the Group’s results, and leading the annual financial audit and production of group financial statements. The team works closely alongside the wider Financial department in London.

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the Group Accountant will own:

  • Key month-end processes for revenue and cost allocation,
  • Accurate brand-specific financial reporting in line with deadlines,
  • Balance sheet control, including timely and accurate reconciliations, and
  • Key Treasury activities and Group year-end audit support alongside the external audit team.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, organised, and able to take ownership of tasks while quickly understanding the nuances of Immediate Media’s business. They will collaborate with the Group Finance team to support wider finance objectives, resolve queries efficiently, and communicate clear, precise information.

Key Responsibilities

As Group Accountant, you will:

  • Own and allocate circulation and subscription revenue postings, month-end cost allocations, and complete all related monthly balance sheet reconciliations for these areas.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, including monthly depreciation, amortisation, additions and disposal journals.
  • Assist in resolving audit queries across Profit & Loss (P&L) and balance sheet areas.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis, projects, and assignments as required by the Group Finance Manager and Group Financial Controller.
  • Have opportunities to expand responsibilities within Group Finance over time.

Requirements

  • ACCA or CIMA (part-qualified accountant).
  • Previous experience in a similar role or commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts, systems, and processes, including working to timetables and strict procedures.
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to apply methodologies for ensuring high accuracy.
  • Proficiency in financial systems/software with advanced Excel skills.
  • Commitment to process improvement in complex reporting structures and an ability to flexibly respond to operational changes.
  • Must be a "finisher": someone with drive, enthusiasm, and commitment to improving management reporting efficiency.
  • Able to use initiative, anticipate issues, and develop practical, common-sense solutions under pressure.
  • A confident team player with strong influencing, facilitation, and communication skills (both oral and written).
