Group Accounts Manager Opportunity at Van Mossel UK
We have an opportunity for a Group Accounts Manager to join our Head Office team at Van Mossel UK, Poole.
As a Group Accounts Manager, you will lead our finance operations team and support the continued growth of the business. This is a varied and hands-on management role that combines financial oversight, team leadership, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement across multiple areas of the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the accounts function, maintaining robust financial controls, and delivering accurate and timely financial information while supporting the development of the finance team.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and support the Accounts Assistant team, including performance reviews, training, recruitment, and holiday planning.
- Oversee purchase ledger processing and ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Manage bank reconciliations, nominal ledger reconciliations, and BACS payment controls.
- Monitor credit control activities and help ensure prompt customer payments.
- Hold regular team meetings to review workloads, priorities, and resolve issues.
- Build strong relationships with managers across the business and provide financial guidance and support.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls.
- Maintain PCI DSS compliance requirements.
- Manage company insurance claims through to successful resolution.
- Carry out VAT audits, ensure compliance, and provide VAT-related guidance.
- Support external audits and prepare year-end reconciliations and reporting.
- Ensure financial processes, controls, and compliance standards are consistently maintained.

What You Will Need
- Proven experience in a finance management or accounts management position.
- Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, reconciliations, credit control, VAT, and financial controls.
- Previous experience managing and developing a finance team.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience supporting audits and ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
- A proactive approach to identifying improvements and implementing effective solutions.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 17:00.
- We offer flexibility around start and finish times, provided that 8 hours are worked each day and business needs are met.
