Group Architect (eCommerce)
London | Hybrid 2 days per week onsite | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits
ARCA Consulting is proud to be partnering with a leading UK ecommerce company to recruit an experienced Group Architect - ecommerce. This is a rare opportunity to shape the technology strategy behind a large-scale ecommerce and cross-channel business, leading the architecture direction for customer-facing platforms and digital experiences that serve millions of customers. If you're an experienced Enterprise, Domain or Lead Architect with a strong eCommerce background and a passion for customer experience, digital transformation and architecture leadership, this is an opportunity to make a genuine strategic impact.
The Opportunity
As Group Architect (eCommerce), you'll own the architecture vision, roadmap and technology direction across the customer and cross-channel portfolio. Working closely with senior technology leaders, product teams, engineering, delivery and business stakeholders, you'll ensure architecture decisions enable exceptional customer experiences while supporting long-term business strategy. You'll also lead and mentor a team of Solution Architects, providing governance, technical leadership and architectural assurance across a broad portfolio of customer-facing initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Define and own the architecture strategy, roadmap and target state for the customer and omnichannel domain.
- Shape technology direction across digital commerce, mobile, customer identity, CRM, fulfilment and customer engagement platforms.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to align architecture with business strategy, customer experience objectives and digital transformation programmes.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Solution Architects, promoting architecture best practice across the organisation.
- Ensure solution designs are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
- Drive technology simplification, reducing technical debt while increasing reuse and consistency across platforms.
- Provide architectural governance through design reviews, design authority and architecture decision processes.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, SaaS platforms and AI-enabled capabilities to support future business growth.
- Champion architecture excellence, innovation and continuous improvement across the wider technology community.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced architecture leader who combines strategic thinking with strong stakeholder engagement and a deep understanding of modern customer technology landscapes. You'll ideally have:
- 10+ years' experience in Enterprise, Group, Domain or Solution Architecture within complex organisations.
- A strong background in eCommerce or cross-channel environments.
- Experience defining enterprise architecture strategies, target operating models and technology roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of customer-facing platforms including ecommerce, mobile, CRM, customer identity, digital services and cross-channel journeys.
- Knowledge of modern cloud technologies, SaaS platforms and enterprise architecture principles.
- Experience translating business strategy into practical architecture guidance and technology decisions.
- A good understanding of integration architecture, APIs, event-driven systems and customer data platforms.
- Strong appreciation of security, resilience, privacy and governance within customer-facing technology.
- Experience using architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, along with modelling techniques including C4, UML or ArchiMate.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or managing Solution Architects.
