Shape the future of strategic procurement in construction and infrastructure

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Group Category Lead Construction and Infrastructure at any of our main UK locations.

The role

As a Group Category Lead Construction and Infrastructure, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and delivering procurement strategies across major construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure programmes. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will influence high-value sourcing decisions, optimise supply chain performance, and build strong supplier partnerships that deliver long-term value.

This is a career-defining opportunity to operate at group level, working across diverse and complex projects that support national infrastructure and defence programmes.

Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders, contribute to strategic decision-making, and drive innovation and sustainability across the supply chain.

  • Developing and delivering end-to-end category strategies for construction, infrastructure and civil engineering
  • Leading complex procurement activities including tendering, negotiation, and contract award
  • Building and managing strategic supplier relationships and performance frameworks
  • Advising stakeholders on commercial models, sourcing approaches, and contract best practice
  • Identifying opportunities for cost optimisation, risk reduction, and sustainable value creation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
