About the Role
The Group Finance Controller – Tax & Reporting supports group-wide financial reporting, tax compliance, and analytical insight across all entities. The role combines technical tax knowledge, month-end reporting, and group-level consolidation support, ensuring accurate financial information and strong compliance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Group Financial Reporting & Control
- Group month-end close: prepare journals, reconciliations, and consolidated reporting packs.
- Group statutory reporting: assist with year-end accounts, consolidation schedules, and audit deliverables.
- Balance sheet integrity: maintain reconciliations across multiple entities and highlight risks.
- Audit support: prepare working papers and respond to group auditor queries.
- Cashflow reporting: support group cashflow forecasting and liquidity analysis.

Group Tax Compliance & Support
- Corporate tax support: assist in preparing group tax packs, gathering data, and supporting the completion of computations and submissions.
- VAT & indirect tax assistance: prepare VAT workings across multiple entities and support compliance checks for HMRC submissions.
- Employment tax administration: support PAYE accuracy, benefits reporting, and coordination with payroll.
- HMRC correspondence support: help collate information and draft responses for group-level queries and audits.
- Tax impact analysis: assist in reviewing the tax implications of transactions, restructures, and cross-entity activity.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Budgeting & forecasting: support group planning cycles and variance analysis.
- Cost & margin analysis: identify trends, risks, and opportunities across entities.
- Process improvement: streamline group reporting processes and improve data accuracy.
- Business partnering: provide clear financial insight to group stakeholders.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
- Strong technical skills with knowledge of FRS102, UK corporate tax, and VAT.
- Experience in month-end, reconciliations, and reporting.
- In depth understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
- Analytical capability with strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work across multiple entities and manage competing deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong control mindset.
Desirable
- Experience in a group or multi-entity environment.
- Exposure to consolidation processes.
- Knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Netsuite, Dynamics).
- Interest in developing deeper tax expertise.
