Axon Moore is partnering with an ambitious, privately owned SME near Doncaster to appoint their Group Finance Director.
With multiple trading locations and a strong reputation for quality and customer service, the business has built a strong market position through sustained investment in recent years. They have a strong financial footing to achieve further growth and have ambitious plans to continue growth and success in the foreseeable future.
This is an exciting role for a financial leader who is seeking a broad, strategic leadership role as a No.1 in finance, supporting an ambitious CEO and board in a privately owned business. This person will be far more than an FD running finances; they will act as a true business partner to the CEO, helping to make the best possible business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial activities of the business, providing strategic guidance to the Board and leading the finance team
- Own the company’s annual budgeting and forecasting procedures, providing regular and timely insight to the board on performance and targets
- Manage the company cash position, including cashflow forecasting and liquidity status
- Ensure robust financial controls are adhered to, and statutory reporting deadlines are met
- Analyse the Group’s financial planning and analysis capabilities, recommending improvements where necessary
- Engage in M&A activity that may provide further growth opportunities for the business and bring in synergies
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following skills and experience:

- Qualified finance leader with experience in a Finance Director or equivalent role, ideally within a large privately owned or owner-managed business
- Experience leading a company through a period of growth and change
- Experience working in a Group structure would be advantageous, preferably with some experience of M&A / company transactions
- Gravitas and professionalism to influence at Board level
This is an ‘on-site’ role where visible leadership will be required, so the expectation is for this person to be in the office most working days.
