Group Finance Director

East Cleveland, North Yorkshire

£80,000 - £100,000 + Benefits

A privately owned and entrepreneurial group of businesses is seeking an experienced Group Finance Director to join its senior leadership team. Operating across Industrial Construction and Automotive sectors, the Group is looking for a commercially minded finance leader who can act as a trusted adviser to the owner, helping to shape strategy, drive performance and provide strong financial leadership across multiple businesses.

This is a highly visible role offering significant influence and responsibility. Working directly with the owner, you will effectively become the strategic lead for finance across the Group, providing both commercial challenge and practical support to ensure sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the owner on business strategy, growth plans and major commercial decisions.
  • Lead all aspects of Group finance, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury and working capital across multiple entities.
  • Oversee intercompany funding arrangements and capital allocation throughout the Group.
  • Provide commercial insight on projects, investments and business performance.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors and external advisers.
  • Support international operations, including VAT and taxation considerations.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant senior finance leadership experience, ideally gained within construction, engineering, manufacturing, project-based or owner-managed businesses.

You will also possess:

  • Strong cash flow, treasury and working capital management expertise.
  • Experience operating within a multi-entity group structure.
  • Excellent commercial judgement and strategic thinking.
  • The confidence to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of European VAT and international taxation would be advantageous.
  • Commutable to North Yorkshire office daily.
