Group Finance Director
Yorkshire
Package up to £90,000
We are working with a successful, privately owned construction and property group to appoint a Group Finance Director following the planned retirement of a long-standing Finance Director.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established, entrepreneurial business with a strong reputation, experienced leadership team, and a stable platform for future growth. The role offers broad responsibility across two complementary businesses, providing genuine strategic influence whilst remaining close to day-to-day commercial operations.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the shareholders, you will provide financial leadership across the group, partnering with the Boards and senior leadership teams to support strategic decision-making, commercial performance, and long-term business planning.
This is a broad SME Finance Director role, combining strategic input with hands-on leadership of an established finance function. You'll inherit a capable finance team, robust financial processes, and a well-managed transition with the support of the retiring Finance Director.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
