Group Finance Director

Group Finance Director

Eton Bridge Partners have exclusively partnered with a rapidly scaling, tech-enabled business in the financial services sector who are looking to appoint a Group Finance Director.

This is a pivotal leadership role reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for overseeing financial governance, reporting, and control across a complex international group structure comprising multiple regulated entities.

The role would suit a technically strong finance leader with substantial Group Controller experience, who is looking to progress towards a future Chief Financial Officer appointment.


Core Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of consolidated group management reporting, including the preparation of high-quality financial packs and insightful commentary for senior leadership and Board stakeholders
  • Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting, including robust variance analysis against forecast, budget, and long-term strategic plans
  • Manage the period-end close process across multiple regulated entities, ensuring consistency, control, and continuous improvement in timelines and reporting quality
  • Partner closely with the CFO to streamline reporting cycles and progress towards a best-in-class group close timetable
  • Enhance the clarity, consistency, and strategic value of financial reporting to support decision-making across a regulated investment environment
  • Lead oversight of safeguarding processes, ensuring full compliance with regulatory obligations across relevant entities
  • Manage treasury and liquidity oversight at the group level, including:
    • Cash flow forecasting
    • Capital planning
    • Banking relationships across jurisdictions
  • Ensure strong balance sheet governance, including:
    • Intercompany reconciliations
    • Technical accounting treatment
    • Oversight of complex group structures
  • Own audit relationships across the group and ensure successful delivery of:
    • Statutory audits
    • Regulatory reporting requirements
  • Oversee tax compliance and planning across multiple jurisdictions, including:
    • Corporate tax
    • Indirect tax
    • Cross-border structuring considerations
  • Build and develop a high-performing finance function capable of supporting rapid growth and increasing regulatory complexity
  • Lead the adoption of automation and AI-enabled tools within the finance function, improving:
    • Efficiency
    • Accuracy
    • Insight generation across reporting, forecasting, and close processes

Candidate Profile

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience
  • Strong background in complex group environments
  • Experience leading finance transformation programmes
  • Experienced in managing and developing high-performing finance teams
  • Proven expertise in:
    • Management reporting
    • Statutory and regulatory financial reporting
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to:
    • Interpret performance drivers
    • Communicate insights clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated track record of improving:
    • Financial reporting processes
    • Controls
    • Data quality
  • Experience optimising close cycles and implementing scalable finance processes in fast-growth environments
  • Experience operating within client money/safeguarding/custody or similar regulated frameworks (e.g. CASS or equivalent regimes)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Treasury
    • Liquidity management
    • Capital considerations within a regulated group
