Group Finance Manager
Leicester | Up to £65,000 + Benefits
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to take on a Group Finance Manager position in a growing, profitable, private equity-backed (PE) business.
The business currently has a turnover of around £20m, with ambitious growth targets:
- Short-term target: £50m
- Long-term ambition: £100m+, including acquisitions
Finance is set to play a key role in driving and supporting expansive growth sooner rather than later.
You’ll report directly to the Finance Director (FD), working closely with an entrepreneurial, supportive senior leadership team. The PE partner maintains a hands-off approach, ensuring the business retains a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture with structured growth plans.
This substantial role is dynamic and impactful. You’ll take full ownership of:
- Group reporting
- Monthly closings (month-end)
- Process improvements and governance for control and reporting quality
- Leadership of a small finance team
In your first year, key focus areas include:
- Implementing and bedding down a new finance system
- Reviewing and upgrading existing processes
- Ensuring finance operations are scaled and optimised for future growth
With opportunities for progression and broader group finance exposure, you’ll refine your experience on settlement, financial consolidations, audit and statutory reporting. The role also includes:
- Supporting the FD in process improvements and systems upgrades
- Preparing finance for the next phase of expansion and acquisitions

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
