Group Financial Controller

Head of Financial Control – Senior Finance Leadership Role

Location: Milton Keynes (minimum 4 days per week in the office) Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Pareto FM is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Group Financial Controller to lead the financial control, reporting, governance and finance transformation agenda across the Group.


About the Role

This is a critical leadership position with responsibility for:

  • The financial control framework across Pareto FM and its subsidiaries
  • Leading the finance function, ensuring strong governance, accuracy, robust controls, and continuous improvement
  • Acting as a strategic partner to the CFO and senior business stakeholders

We seek a technically strong finance leader who balances operational expertise with passion for: ✔ Process improvement ✔ Team development ✔ Modern finance practices (e.g., AI and technology) to drive efficiency and actionable insights.


Key Responsibilities

Consolidated Financial Leadership

  • Lead financial control functions across Pareto FM and all subsidiary entities
  • Oversee transactional finance, ensuring strong controls and performance across:
    • Order-to-Cash (OTC)
    • Procure-to-Pay (P2P)

Financial Reporting & Governance

  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate reporting
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and statutory accounts
  • Own group consolidations, including:
    • Intercompany accounting and eliminations
    • CIS, VAT, and Treasury compliance
  • Lead production of the external audit file and manage the audit process

Operational Excellence & Advisory

  • Strengthen balance sheet controls, reconciliations, and financial discipline
  • Implement and maintain finance policies, controls, and SOPs
  • Drive finance transformation initiatives, such as:
    • Process redesign
    • Automation and system improvements
  • Support the CFO and leadership team in strategic decision-making

People & Systems Leadership

  • Develop and mentor the finance team, fostering accountability, capability, and high performance
  • Drive integration and standardisation across Pareto FM and subsidiary businesses
  • Embrace innovative solutions, including AI and automation, to enhance reporting and efficiency

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • ≥8 years post-qualified experience (PQE), with:
    • Either:
      • At least two prior Financial Controller roles
      • Or a minimum of five years operating as a Financial Controller
  • Technical expertise in:
    • Statutory reporting
    • Group consolidations
    • Audit management
    • Intercompany accounting
    • Multi-entity month-end/year-end processes
    • VAT, CIS, Treasury, and financial controls
  • Proven process improvement track record, including:
    • Finance, control, and team performance
  • People management experience (developing/leading finance teams)
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in finance systems
  • Willingness to commute to Milton Keynes and work in office minimum 4 days/week
