Group Financial Controller - Media

Group Financial Controller – Media & Entertainment

Handle Recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a Group Financial Controller to oversee the finance function of a leading Media and Entertainment company. Reporting directly to the COO, this vital role will see you leading a dynamic finance team, delivering robust financial management and strategic insights across all business units.


About the Role

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

This progressive and impactful position will focus on:

  • Financial Reporting & Control
    • Compiling and analysing group consolidated reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance within UK GAAP.
    • Overseeing group P&L, balance sheets (both management and statutory compliance).
    • Preparing and managing group budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow reporting.
    • Producing client-specific reports, brand analysis, and projection models.
    • Ensuring effective communication of financial results to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Leading ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decision-making.
    • Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts, statutory group accounting, audit documentation, and tax compliance.
    • Responsibility for monthly financial closings, systems balancing, and reporting.

  • Operational Leadership & Support
    • Managing and developing the finance team, fostering collaborative and high-performing environments.
    • Conducting and overseeing departmental meetings with Finance Managers and Department Heads as the key fiscal point of contact.
    • Driving continuous process improvement, ensuring internal controls remain robust.
    • Ensuring proper tracking, monitoring, and reporting of all deals and transactions.
    • Supporting external business functions, including liaising with the Business Affairs team on finance-related queries.

Key Requirements

You will have:

  • A recognised chartered accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Substantial experience in Entertainment/Media sectors (essential).
  • Advanced knowledge of UK GAAP accounting and expertise in:
    • Group consolidations, inter-company transactions, and control-based environments.
  • Commercial insight with a forward-thinking mindset, capable of providing high-level analysis for business decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and proactivity in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Further Desired Skills

  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
  • Familiarity with finance software systems and knowledge of ERP solutions is advantageous.
  • Exposure to audit visibilities and tax compliance (individual or group-level).
  • Decision-making skills supporting cross-functional collaboration between Finance and Business leaders.
