Group Financial Controller
We are the embedded hiring partner to an ambitious and growing UK business, supporting them in the appointment of a Group Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in the next stage of their growth.
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, this is a highly visible leadership position offering genuine influence, strategic exposure, and a clear opportunity to grow as the business continues to expand.
This role is ideal for an experienced finance leader who wants more than simply producing reports. It's an opportunity to shape strategy, influence key decisions, and make a measurable impact across the wider business.
The Role
As Group Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the Group's financial control, reporting, and governance, ensuring accurate financial information, robust controls, and meaningful commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.
Working closely with the Group Finance Director and senior leadership team, you will lead the finance function while driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, and performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing finance team
- Overseeing month-end and year-end close processes across the Group
- Producing accurate management accounts, statutory reporting, and group financial information
- Maintaining and enhancing financial controls, governance, and compliance
- Managing cash flow, balance sheet integrity, and financial risk
- Leading the annual audit process and managing external auditor relationships
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Delivering commercial analysis and financial insight to support strategic decisions
- Partnering with operational and commercial leaders to improve business performance
- Driving improvements in finance systems, reporting, and internal controls
- Supporting acquisitions, business integration projects, and finance transformation initiatives
- Ensuring consistency and best practice across multiple business entities

About You
You will be a qualified finance professional with strong leadership experience and a desire to make a meaningful contribution beyond financial reporting.
You will demonstrate:
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification
- Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
- Experience leading, developing, and motivating finance teams
- Commercial awareness with the ability to influence decision-making
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proactive approach to driving continuous improvement and business performance
