Group Financial Controller. Up to £90,000 + Package

York Based

Are you a finance professional who takes pride in precision, discipline, and control and enjoy strengthening reporting accuracy, tightening processes, elevating governance, and building a finance environment where nothing is left to chance? If you’re ready to apply that technical depth to a growing organisation that needs a detail-driven Financial Controller, this one is for you.

This role puts you at the heart of a sub-£10m turnover organisation with ambitions to reach £50m+ within the next 3-5 years. That means stepping into a high-growth environment where your expertise will directly influence reporting quality, control maturity, technical capability, and systems performance. Working closely with an experienced CFO, you will take ownership of group consolidation, global multi-entity reporting, cashflow forecasting, governance, controls, and the optimisation of a modern finance systems landscape. You will be the person who ensures absolute accuracy, smooth processes, and an investor-grade finance function for a global business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
