Group Financial Reporting Accountant
About the role:
We are excited to be recruiting for the position of Group Financial Reporting Accountant at Aurora Energy Research, reporting to the Head of Group Reporting. This role combines responsibility for Group financial reporting with management reporting and performance analysis, delivering accurate, timely, and insightful information to support senior decision-making.
It is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant to broaden their experience across reporting, technical accounting, and financial analysis within a growing international business.
As the business continues to grow internationally, the finance team is looking for a proactive and adaptable individual with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills who is keen to develop and take on broader responsibilities over time.
Key responsibilities:
Group Consolidation and Monthly Reporting
- Support the Group month end process, including preparation of management and statutory consolidations, intercompany matrix, and group balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management reporting, including the balance sheet and cashflow, with variance and trend analysis, and commentary for senior management
- Download and validate trial balance data from Dynamics 365 across entities, ensuring completeness and consistency of reporting inputs
- Review reporting dimensions and liaise with regional financial controllers to resolve data quality issues affecting management and statutory reporting
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements, balance sheet and cash flow reporting, ensuring outputs are accurate, auditable, and aligned across reporting packs
Private Equity & Investor Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation of financial information and analysis for Board, investor, and senior management reporting packs
- Provide analysis and commentary on performance, variances, and reporting movements to support senior stakeholder decision-making

Statutory & Financial Reporting (FRS 102)
- Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and disclosures for Group and Holding Companies entity statutory reporting under FRS 102
- Apply Group accounting policies consistently across reporting outputs and assist with technical accounting analysis and documentation where required
- Prepare accounting papers to support reporting treatments for complex or non-routine transactions and help ensure accounting conclusions are appropriately documented
- Support the Group external audit by preparing working papers, audit schedules, and responses to auditor queries in a timely manner
Controls and Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, close timetables, and reporting tools, working with finance and systems teams as needed
- Support finance transformation initiatives and take on broader responsibilities over time as the role develops
- Undertake other ad hoc projects and analysis as agreed with the Head of Group Reporting
What we are looking for:
Required attributes:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with minimum 3 years PQE
- Experience in Group reporting within an international or multi-entity business
- Good technical accounting knowledge, including FRS 102 and UK GAAP
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements within a multinational organisation
- Experience preparing and analysing management reporting and P&L statements
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, reconciliations, structured reporting, and data analysis
- Experience working with finance systems and reporting tools, including Dynamics 365
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing clear, well-organised audit deliverables
- A highly motivated individual with the ability to work proactively and independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different regions and functions
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with the ambition and potential to take on broader responsibilities over time

Desirable attributes:
- Experience in a PE-backed, high-growth, or international business environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify reporting issues and propose practical solutions
- Knowledge of Power BI or other financial reporting tools would be beneficial
