Group Governance & Risk Manager

We are partnering with a purpose-driven organisation seeking an experienced Group Governance & Risk Manager to take ownership of its governance, risk, and assurance framework.

Reporting into the executive leadership team and working closely with Board members, you will:

  • Ensure strong corporate governance practices
  • Provide robust oversight and effective risk management across the organisation

This is a highly visible role, offering the opportunity to:

  • Shape governance processes
  • Support strategic decision-making
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead adviser on governance, compliance, and corporate assurance matters
  • Build and enhance governance structures that support effective leadership and decision-making
  • Develop and oversee enterprise-wide risk management processes and reporting
  • Lead audit and assurance programmes, ensuring recommendations are translated into meaningful improvements
  • Maintain oversight of:
    • Corporate policies
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Information governance requirements
  • Foster strong relationships with:
    • Senior stakeholders
    • Board members
    • Committees

Requirements

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in senior governance, ideally within a regulated sector
  • A proven ability to develop and embed governance, assurance, and risk frameworks at an organisational level
  • A strong track record of advising Boards, committees, and senior executives
  • Experience in:
    • Managing internal audit activity
    • Driving improvements through assurance findings
  • Knowledge of:
    • Data protection legislation
    • Wider compliance obligations
  • An influential leader with:
    • Excellent judgement
    • Strong stakeholder management skills
    • Ability to navigate complex environments
