Build a brilliant future with Hiscox

Position: Group Head of Digital and Content

Reporting to: Chief Communications Officer

The role

The Group Head of Digital and Content will lead Hiscox’s corporate digital, content and measurement capabilities. The role owns the Group website, corporate digital channels, executive digital presence, digital governance, social media standards and performance insight, ensuring the Hiscox narrative is clear, consistent and effective for priority audiences.

The immediate priority is to lead the relaunch of hiscoxgroup.com through to delivery in Q1 2027, creating a site that supports clear user journeys, business unit needs, Investor Relations requirements, search performance and Hiscox’s visibility in AI-driven discovery environments.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role for someone who can connect strong editorial judgement with practical delivery, helping Hiscox move from channel-led activity to a more coherent, insight-driven content system across internal and external audiences.

About Group Communications

Group Communications manages Hiscox’s global reputation, working with leaders across the business to shape the company narrative, strengthen our market positioning and engage colleagues. The function is proactive, consultative and works across the communications spectrum in close partnership with Investor Relations and Marketing.

What you’ll be doing

You will act as the strategic lead and delivery connector for corporate digital content, working closely with Internal Communications, External Communications, Marketing, Investor Relations and business unit communications leads. The role brings structure to how digital and content work is briefed, prioritised, delivered and measured, while keeping ownership clear across audiences and channels.

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the role leads a small digital and design team and manages external agencies, suppliers and specialist partners to deliver high-quality, scalable work across the business.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Own the corporate digital communications and content strategy, in partnership with Marketing, Internal Communications, External Communications, Investor Relations and business unit communications leads.
  • Lead the relaunch of hiscoxgroup.com through to delivery in Q1 2027, with clear ownership, strong project management, effective user journeys and content that supports priority audiences.
  • Oversee the ongoing performance of the Group website, including content quality, search visibility, discoverability and readiness for AI-driven search and discovery environments.
  • Develop high-impact content programmes and digital activations aligned to key business moments, audience needs and Group narrative priorities.
  • Shape the digital presence of Hiscox’s senior leaders, including the CEO and GEC members, ensuring executive content supports corporate positioning, reputation and engagement goals.
  • Set global standards and governance for corporate digital communications and social media, with practical guidance for markets.
  • Create a clearer briefing and prioritisation model for corporate digital and content work, ensuring the right work is done for the right audiences.
  • Lead digital measurement, social media monitoring, media measurement and issues insight, including support for crisis advisory work where required.
  • Develop an executive-level communications measurement framework, working with markets to identify meaningful KPIs for GEC and Board-level reporting.
  • Provide content strategy and digital support for the Hiscox global intranet, The Gallery, in partnership with Internal Communications.
  • Partner credibly with Investor Relations and business unit communications leads so corporate digital channels support market, investor and stakeholder needs.
  • Line manage the Digital Communications Executive and Group Design Lead, with matrix management responsibilities across projects as needed.
  • Manage budgets and external partners tightly to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The candidate:

A digital and content leader with strong editorial judgement and a clear understanding of what good looks like in a global, listed, regulated business. Deep expertise in content strategy, corporate storytelling, website management and multi-channel digital communications. A track record of delivering website transformations or complex digital programmes with clear project discipline. Confident advising senior stakeholders, executive leaders, Investor Relations partners and business unit communications leads. Able to navigate competing priorities and turn complexity into clear, compelling content and practical delivery plans. Data-driven, with the ability to turn insight into action and build measurement that informs executive decision-making. Strong understanding of audience needs, user journeys, search, digital experience, social media monitoring and content performance. Collaborative leader and credible business partner, with a clear understanding of how internal and external communications need to work in lockstep without blurring ownership. Calm and decisive under pressure, with sound judgement when digital, reputational or stakeholder issues need fast escalation. Experience managing agencies, suppliers and multi-disciplinary delivery teams in a matrixed, global environment. International experience, with an understanding of how corporate narrative needs to flex across markets.

Success in the role looks like:

  • Internal, external and digital content priorities are better connected, with less duplication and clearer ownership.
  • Corporate digital channels support multiple stakeholder needs, including business units, Investor Relations, media, colleagues and prospective talent.
  • The brand and senior leaders have stronger engagement and a more credible thought leadership presence.
  • Communications activity shifts from ad hoc channel output to structured, strategic content programming.
  • Digital performance, reach, search visibility and reputation metrics improve measurably.
  • GEC and Board reporting is supported by a practical, executive-level communications measurement framework.
  • Markets have clearer digital governance and social media standards.

About Hiscox

As an international specialist insurer, we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead, we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things. We ensure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people.

Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions. Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places. Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.

Diversity and flexible working at Hiscox

At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job, and we are committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success. Working life does not always have to be in the office so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance. This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance. We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
