Group Head of Enterprise Risk Management

Reporting into the Group CRO and reporting directly to the HMA/HIDAC CEOs and Boards on risk management matters, the role holder will play a vital leadership role within our business, developing strategic risk management and ensuring top-class risk management across the Hamilton Group.

Success in this role requires regular, proactive, and effective communication and collaboration with all stakeholders and colleagues across the group, including platform leadership and the wider Risk & Actuarial team. It also requires an understanding of, and compliance with, all regulatory environments across the group, with a focus on the PRA and CBI.

What you will do

Head of Enterprise Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, maintain and raise awareness of an effective enterprise, emerging and operational risk framework, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the ERM function.
  • Maintain and update risk registers entities across the group, ensuring clear risk taxonomy and definitions.
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation and execution of the Internal Control Framework and Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process across the HGS platform. Provide support and challenge to the business to maintain Hamilton’s control environment.
  • Articulate the key risks to senior management and the relevant governance forums. This includes identifying areas for process/control improvement.
  • Support key operational initiatives including business continuity planning, disaster recovery, information security, and operational resilience.
  • Produce ERM reports for the subsidiary Risk Committees, Boards, and other committees as required.
  • Administer the process for the capture of loss events and near misses and investigate and document the root cause of incidents and planned remedial actions.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Hamilton’s GRC system, with a focus on the Risk & Compliance workspace.
  • Provide training to the business in support of a strong risk culture
  • Co-ordinate the production of the annual ORSA reports.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a process for the identification, assessment, and monitoring of emerging risks.
  • Be an advocate and example of the Hamilton target culture, driving Hamilton culture, values, and talent management across the organisation
  • Foster an environment of support and collaboration, providing support and guidance to the business as needed
  • Collaborate, influence and build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally (including with the regulators) that enhance the prospects of Strategic success

Chief Risk Officer, HMA (SMF-4) & HIDAC (PCF-14)

  • Responsibility for the risk management function and for maintaining and monitoring the effectiveness of the insurance undertaking’s risk management system.
  • Overall responsibility for managing entity risk function and reporting directly to the entity Board on risk management matters
  • Ensure entities have an effective risk management framework that complies with local requirements and standards, including appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the production of entity level annual ORSA and any ad hoc ORSAs as required.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place to identify, manage, and monitor risks, including emerging risks.
  • Promote a sound and effective risk management culture at all levels.
  • Facilitate the setting of the risk appetite by the entity Boards and ensure it is appropriately monitored.
  • Provide comprehensive and timely information on material risks to the entity Boards, Risk Committees, and other committees as required.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and innovation in risk management practices.
  • Be an advocate and example of the Hamilton target culture, driving Hamilton culture, values, and talent management across the organisation
  • Foster an environment of support and collaboration, providing support and guidance to the business as needed
  • Collaborate, influence and build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally (including with the regulators) that enhance the prospects of Strategic success

  • PR27 - Responsibility for implementing the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process in the insurance undertaking.

Additional information regarding the allocated Prescribed Responsibilities: CRO responsible for the calculation of the company’s capital requirement (with input from Finance); CFO responsible for calculating capital, managing funding and liquidity
