As part of our transformation, we're building a best-in-class Procurement function that can drive commercial value, improve governance, strengthen supplier partnerships and support sustainable growth across the organisation.
What's the role?
As Head of Procurement – Indirects, you'll lead the development and execution of the indirect procurement strategy across DCC Energy GB.
With responsibility for an annual spend portfolio of approximately £300 million, you'll oversee a broad range of corporate and operational categories including IT, Marketing, Professional Services, HR, Facilities, Capital Equipment, Engineering Services, Maintenance, PPE and operational support services.
This is a strategic leadership role where your focus will be on building a high-performing procurement function, developing capability, embedding category excellence and delivering measurable commercial outcomes across a complex, multi-business environment. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to position Procurement as a trusted business partner while driving the next phase of procurement transformation.
What you'll be doing
Procurement Leadership
- Lead and develop the indirect procurement function across DCC Energy GB.
- Set strategic direction and priorities across all indirect spend categories.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to a high-performing procurement team.
- Personally lead critical sourcing initiatives and strategic commercial negotiations where required.

Category Management & Commercial Value
- Develop and embed best-in-class category management practices.
- Ensure robust category strategies are in place across all indirect spend areas.
- Deliver sustainable savings, cost optimisation, value creation and risk reduction.
- Strengthen supplier performance and commercial outcomes across the portfolio.
Business Partnering
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders across the organisation.
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor, aligning procurement strategies to business priorities.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and increase procurement influence across the business.
- Support improved governance and adoption of procurement best practice.
Procurement Transformation

Play a key leadership role in delivering DCC Energy GB's procurement transformation programme.

Partner with the Procurement Centre of Excellence to embed new systems, processes and ways of working.

Drive organisational alignment and adoption of a category-led operating model.

Lead change initiatives that enhance procurement maturity and effectiveness.
Governance & Supplier Management
- Ensure procurement activities operate within agreed governance frameworks and policies.
- Oversee supplier performance, risk management and strategic supplier relationships.
- Improve compliance, visibility and control across procurement activities.
- Support audits and ensure procurement processes remain scalable and effective.
What you'll bring
Essential Experience
- Significant senior procurement leadership experience within large, complex organisations.
- Proven experience managing broad indirect procurement portfolios across both corporate and operational categories.
- Strong track record of leading procurement teams and developing capability.
- Experience delivering procurement transformation and organisational change.
- Expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiations.
- Experience working within energy, utilities, engineering, infrastructure or similarly complex environments would be highly advantageous.

Knowledge & Capability
- Strong knowledge of category management, procurement governance and procurement operating models.
- Deep understanding of Source-to-Contract (S2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and supplier lifecycle management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance value, risk and operational priorities.
- Experience leveraging procurement systems, analytics and reporting tools to drive performance improvement.
