The Opportunity

Are you ready to shape how safety data enters our organisation, drive strategic partnerships, and directly impact patient safety? As Group Head, Safety Data Acquisition & Partnering (DA&P), you will lead a high-performing team dedicated to establishing strategic collaborations, ensuring compliance, and governing the vital "Front-End" pillar of Patient Safety Operations.

In this pivotal role, you will align external asset integration and contractual safety arrangements with the advanced management of our upstream safety data supply chain. Championing agile working principles, you’ll collaborate across internal and external partners, data sources, and therapeutic modalities to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions. You will also drive next-generation automation and AI technologies to enhance safety data acquisition.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Develop and deliver clear operational strategies aligned with global safety goals and broader business ambitions
  • Cultivate an agile, self-orgnisational team environment, fostering innovation, experimentation, and autonomous decision-making
  • Maintain and enhance deep process expertise within the team, particularly among Business Process Owners (BPOs), ensuring consistent application across Roche

Safety Agreements & Compliance

  • Drive the development, negotiation, and implementation of fit-for-purpose safety agreements
  • Facilitate efficient integration and sharing of external data across partnerships
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (including clinical trial collaborations and PV service providers) to address contracutal requirements during company or molecule acquisitions

Innovation & Technology

  • Collaborate globally to influence how AI, cognitive computing, and automation enhance safety data acquisition
  • Provide expert strategic guidance on safety agreement frameworks across licensing, clinical trials, and PV service contracts

Data Governance & Quality Control

  • Ensure timely, high-quality safety data is secured across Affiliates, Pharma, and Diagnostics
  • Maintain full oversight of Quality Management System (QMS) processes to ensure inspection readiness and regulatory compliance

Requirements

Industry & Operational Expertise

  • Extensive experience in pharmacovigilance (PV) systems, operations, and global regulatory obligations
  • Proven contractual expertise in safety agreement management, including negotiation across diverse stakeholders

Leadership & Agility

  • Demonstrated success in leading, coaching, and empowering high-performing multicultural teams using agile methodologies

Technical & Strategic Acumen

  • Strong awareness of digital health systems, with an understanding of AI, cognitive computing, and automation in data workflows
  • Exceptional strategic influencing skills—ability to convince senior leadership and drive decisions without direct authority

Education

  • Degree in a relevant Life Science or Data Science field (MSc, PhD, or equivalent strongly preferred)

Location & Notes

  • Based in Basel, Switzerland – relocations will not be supported.
  • Given internal processes, this role is made available on an "informational basis" pending the confirmation of the Global Head Data Acquisition & Partnering position.

For pay transparency purposes, compensation details are initially provided based on the primary posting location (Basel). If you are interested in additional locations offering this role, further compensation information will be shared during the hiring process.
