As a Group Internal Audit IT Senior Manager – Digital, Data and AI, you will play a key role in providing high-quality assurance to the Board Audit and Risk Committee. You will lead the development of audit plans for your business and risk areas, working with senior stakeholders and assurance teams to deliver coordinated assurance across BT's key risks. You will represent Group Internal Audit at governance forums, provide updates to senior stakeholders, lead teams delivering complex audits and strategic initiatives, and support the development of Audit Managers and the wider audit function.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the development of risk-based audit plans across your areas of responsibility, ensuring audit activity remains aligned to business risks and coordinated with assurance providers.
- Lead the delivery of a portfolio of Digital, Data, AI and technology-related audits, ensuring reviews are completed to the required quality standards and agreed timelines.
- Deliver assurance over complex, sensitive and strategic risk areas, providing meaningful insight, challenge and recommendations to senior stakeholders across the business.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of IT Audit Managers, creating a high-performing environment that supports both individual and team success.
- Manage and coordinate third-party audit specialists where required to support the successful delivery of audit engagements.
- Provide real-time support, challenge and practical insight to management as new processes, technologies and business change initiatives are developed and implemented.
- Respond to requests from business stakeholders by providing independent audit insight, advice and assurance support where appropriate.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Group Internal Audit within your areas of responsibility, building strong relationships with stakeholders, Risk Managers and assurance providers.
- Represent Group Internal Audit at formal and informal governance forums, providing assurance updates, professional challenge and risk insights to support effective decision-making.
- Lead audit improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Internal Audit methodologies, practices and ways of working.

Essential Skills / Experience
- Significant experience leading IT, Digital, Data and technology-focused audits within a complex, regulated organisation, including developing risk-based audit plans and delivering high-quality assurance across strategic business risks.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and engage senior leaders while building trusted partnerships across the business.
- Proven leadership experience, including leading audit teams, developing Audit Managers, driving continuous improvement initiatives and successfully delivering complex audit and assurance programmes.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience auditing data governance, data management and AI-related controls, including data architecture, metadata management and data analytics.
- Knowledge of industry-standard technology and data control frameworks and benchmarks, such as DCAM, and their application within audit and assurance activities.
- Professional qualifications such as CISA, or equivalent audit, risk or technology-related accreditation.
- Experience leading audits across multiple technology and risk domains, including DevSecOps, Agile delivery, Application Security, Data and Information Security, Third-Party Management, Transformation and GDPR.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues, identify underlying risks and deliver practical, actionable recommendations.
