Managing Director – Medical Cannabis Group
Location: United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Reports to: Group CEO
Direct Reports: Clinical Director, Superintendent Pharmacist, Operations Director, Commercial Director, Finance Lead, Regulatory & Quality Lead, Marketing Lead
We have full exclusivity within this role working for our Client.
We are building one of the UK's leading integrated medical cannabis businesses, bringing together specialist clinics, pharmacy, manufacturing, importation, education and patient support under one group. Our ambition is to improve patient access to safe, regulated cannabis-based medicines through exceptional clinical care, operational excellence and innovation.
The Managing Director will be responsible for leading the business from launch through to national scale, ensuring sustainable growth while maintaining the highest standards of governance, regulatory compliance and patient care.
The Opportunity
This is an entrepreneurial leadership role for someone who wants to build a market-leading healthcare company.
The Managing Director will own the commercial strategy, operational performance and growth of the business whilst working closely with the Board to execute the long-term vision.
This individual will be expected to:
- Create a high-performing leadership team

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the company's long-term growth strategy
- Deliver annual business plans and budgets
- Identify new commercial opportunities and revenue streams
- Build relationships with investors, regulators and strategic partners
- Present regular board reports including KPIs and growth plans
- Lead mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships where appropriate
Commercial Growth
Drive patient acquisition across multiple channels including:
- Private patients
- Insurance opportunities
- Corporate healthcare
- GP referrals
- Specialist consultants
- NHS opportunities where appropriate
Responsible for:
- Revenue growth
- EBITDA performance
- Market expansion
- Pricing strategy
- Product portfolio expansion
- International opportunities

Clinical Governance
Working alongside the Clinical Director and Superintendent Pharmacist to ensure:
- Safe prescribing
- Excellent clinical outcomes

- Controlled Drugs Regulations
- Information Governance
- Patient Safety
Regulatory Leadership
Ensure full compliance with:
- CQC
- GPhC
- MHRA
- Home Office Controlled Drugs Licensing
- GDPR
- UK Healthcare Regulations
Develop a culture where quality and compliance are embedded throughout the organisation.
Financial Management
Responsible for:
- P&L ownership
- EBITDA delivery
- Cashflow management
- Budget preparation
- Forecasting
- Capital allocation
- Cost optimisation
Work closely with the Group Finance team to ensure robust financial controls.
Leadership & Culture
Recruit, develop and inspire a high-performing executive team.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or equivalent professional experience
