Reporting to the CEO

This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven operational leader to take ownership of a large-scale field service operation and deliver meaningful improvements in performance, productivity and customer outcomes. Working closely with the leadership team, you will lead change and build a culture focused on accountability, efficiency and results while building the capability and infrastructure required for future growth.

Description

  • Lead a national field-based engineering and service operation, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery.
  • Develop and execute the operational strategy required to support growth and improve business performance.
  • Drive measurable improvements in productivity, utilisation, service quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead operational performance through clear accountability, robust KPIs and disciplined execution.
  • Challenge existing processes and ways of working, delivering sustainable improvements across the operation.
  • Build, coach and develop a high-performing leadership team capable of supporting future growth.
  • Partner with commercial and senior leadership colleagues to improve contract performance, profitability and customer outcomes.
  • Use operational data and insight to identify opportunities, solve problems and accelerate performance improvement.
  • Maintain a visible presence across the operation, engaging teams and ensuring plans translate into results on the ground.
  • Create the operational capability, infrastructure and culture required to support the next phase of growth.

Profile

Person Specification

  • Proven success in a Director or senior operational leadership role within facilities management, engineering services, technical services or a comparable field-based environment.
  • Track record of leading complex, multi-site customer based operations and delivering sustained improvements in performance, productivity and customer outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience improving profitability, operational efficiency and contract performance.
  • Demonstrable success leading operational transformation, continuous improvement and organisational change programmes.
  • Strategic in approach but highly action-oriented, with a reputation for turning plans into measurable results.
  • Experienced in building, developing and leading high-performing operational teams.
  • Strong understanding of workforce planning, resource optimisation and service delivery excellence.
  • Data-driven and comfortable using KPIs, insight and operational metrics to drive decision-making and accountability.
  • Credible and influential leader, capable of engaging effectively with customers, colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Resilient, ambitious and energised by leading change within a growth-oriented environment.

Sector Experience

Candidates are likely to have gained experience within Facilities Management, Technical Services, Infrastructure Services, Utilities, Field Service Operations, or a similarly aligned environment where operational success is driven through the delivery of field-based engineering and service teams.

Location & Travel

This is a national leadership role requiring regular travel across operational sites and offices throughout the UK. The successful candidate will have experience leading geographically dispersed teams and be comfortable maintaining a visible presence across the operation while driving performance, engagement and accountability.

Whilst the role is ideally based in the South East, high-calibre candidates located in the Midlands or North will also be considered, provided they are able and willing to undertake significant national travel.
