Role: Group Shift Leader Location: Isabella Road, Workington Days: 2 days per week, Saturday and Sunday Shifts: 07:00 - 19:00 Salary: £15.30p/h plus shift allowance - £30 per week

The Role: As Group Shift Leader, you will lead and coordinate warehouse operations during your shift, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with operational targets.

You will provide day-to-day leadership to warehouse operatives, oversee battery sorting and processing activities, maintain high standards of housekeeping and compliance, and help create a safe, productive and positive working environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with warehouse or manufacturing experience who enjoys motivating teams and driving operational performance.

The Business: Recycling Lives Services is not a typical recycling company. Since 2008, the business has been structurally built around social value, employing people from disadvantaged backgrounds, partnering with the justice system to reduce reoffending, and delivering environmental excellence at scale. The social mission is not a layer added on top of commercial activity. It is the reason the business operates in the way it does.

As a certified B Corp (scoring 103.5 against a business median of 50.9), Recycling Lives Services generated £42.9m in social value in 2024, achieved a 61% reduction in CO2 emissions, and diverted 97% of waste from landfill. 15% of our team have been welcomed through our rehabilitation programmes, and only 6% of people we support reoffend — compared to a national average of over 25%.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
