About the Role
As the Group Training Manager, your role is to shape how operational teams learn, develop, and perform across our network of sites in the UK and Ireland.
This newlycreated role requires a strategic leader to define and implement a high-impact, group-wide training strategy. Your focus will be on delivering consistent, high-quality training that exceeds basic compliance, genuinely improving capabilities, behavior, and operational performance.
Location
- Kepak operates a hybrid working model.
- You can base your role at either Kirkham or Merthyr, with regular travel required across sites in Ireland and the UK.
Your Responsibilities
- Set the standard: Build and maintain a best-in-class training framework across compliance, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational capability.
- Drive impactful learning: Shift training from reactive to measurable competence, embedding performance verification, observation techniques, and manager accountability.
- Own training systems: Govern and optimise Kepak’s Learning Management System (LMS) — overseeing governance, learning pathways, reporting, and audit readiness.
- Elevate training content: Define clear, simple, and effective SOP and training standards across all sites.
- Influence strategically: Partner with senior leadership in operations, quality, health & safety (H&S), and HR to align training with business priorities.
- Develop trainers: Coach and upskill site-based training teams to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.
- Optimise external training: Standardise suppliers, reduce duplication, and maximise value provided by external providers.
- Continuously improve: Leveraging data, audits, and insights to refine and evolve training initiatives across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
