About us
Minerva Virtual Academy is the UK's largest DfE-accredited online school, educating students across roughly 60 countries. Alongside it sits MVA Tutors, a premium tutoring service. Together, the two organisations are built around a simple belief: schools should fit the child, not the other way around. Our founder, Hugh, is an active voice in the education reform conversation, writing, speaking at conferences, and building a growing audience on LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok. That audience is more than a marketing channel. It's a direct expression of what Minerva stands for.
The role
This is a new position, created because we've outgrown our current setup. Right now, Hugh has one person helping with content (editing videos, supporting LinkedIn posts), but there's no one leading the strategy. No one owns the vision for how Hugh's personal brand grows, what it says, and where it shows up. That's what this role is. You'll come in as the strategic lead for Hugh's personal brand across LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok. You'll plan and produce content, manage the existing editor, and take full ownership of growing Hugh's following through authentic, mission-driven storytelling. This isn't a social media scheduling job. It's a creative and strategic role that puts you at the heart of a founder-led brand with real momentum and a genuine story to tell.
What you'll do — strategy & planning
- Own the content strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok, setting direction, identifying angles, and building the calendar.
- Translate Hugh's work, ideas and experiences into compelling content themes.
- Track growth, engagement and platform trends and adjust the approach accordingly.
- Identify opportunities: speaking clips, reactive content, series formats, collaborations.
Production & execution
- Plan and lead regular filming sessions with Hugh, preparing hooks, formats and briefs so the time is used well.
- Manage the existing video editor, briefing and reviewing their work.
- Write scripts, captions and hooks that sound like Hugh, not like a content agency.
- Repurpose long-form content (talks, interviews, podcast appearances) into short-form clips and posts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Community & growth
- Grow Hugh's following on Instagram and TikTok through consistent, high-quality content.
- Monitor comments and engagement, feeding insights back into the strategy.
- Build a recognisable visual and tonal identity across platforms.
Who we're looking for
- You've done this before, or something close enough that you can hit the ground running.
- You understand how founder-led content works: that the story matters as much as the format, that authenticity beats polish, and that growing a following takes both creative instinct and disciplined consistency.
- You'll bring a track record of growing a social media presence (ideally for a founder, executive or public-facing individual), strong writing skills with the ability to capture someone else's voice convincingly, genuine fluency with Instagram Reels and TikTok (not just using them, but understanding what makes content perform), experience managing or briefing a creative, strategic thinking that lets you zoom out and plan a quarter and zoom in and write a caption, and self-direction.
- You don't need to be told what to do. You see the opportunity, and you go after it.
- Bonus points for education, edtech or mission-driven backgrounds, journalism or documentary experience, or familiarity with LinkedIn as a thought leadership platform.
What we offer
- £45,000 to £55,000 depending on experience.
- London / hybrid working, we're flexible on the split.
- In a close working relationship with the founder, this role has real access and real influence.
- The chance to build something from the ground up with genuine creative ownership.
- A mission worth telling people about.
