Job Description
Overview
Lead the Sustainability and Environment (S&E) practice for AtkinsRéalis in India and support the Consulting, Strategy & Advisory (CS&A) capability practice.
- Lead the development and implementation of the S&E team strategy to ensure its continued growth, technical excellence and positioning in the marketplace as a trusted advisor.
- Oversee the successful delivery of projects, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.
- Lead business development and bidding activities for the team, supporting key regional markets such as the Middle East (ME) and liaising with the UK.
- Ensure the continued commercial success of the S&E team and contribute towards the sustained financial performance (utilization) of the team.
- Strengthen and expand the team’s capabilities, service offerings, project pipeline, and market reputation.
- Serve as the client-facing lead on selected projects and opportunities in key regional markets, fostering client care, maintaining existing relationships, and cultivating new ones.
- Ensure ongoing client satisfaction and retention, driving repeat business while also developing new client relationships.
Your role
- Degree in relevant subject matter expertise (e.g., architecture, engineering, sustainability, environment, etc.)
- Ideally post-graduate qualifications e.g., master’s degree in relevant field.
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in a similar industry, within the consulting environment.
- Minimum 5 years strong management experience, leading a team of S&E subject matter experts.
- Accreditation and experience with leading sustainability and environmental standards, including LEED, Estidama, WELL, Envision, BREEAM, Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), and Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Additional credentials such as Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), ISSP Sustainability Excellence Professional (SEP), SITES AP, and Certified Sustainability ESG Practitioner are highly desirable.
- Proven leadership experience in managing large, multidisciplinary teams across diverse areas of sustainability and environmental services (e.g., sustainability certifications, corporate sustainability and ESG, energy modelling, waste management, climate advisory, environmental assessments, EIAs, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated excellence in providing high-quality client service.
- Strong track record in leading diverse teams, aligning them with strategic goals, and managing performance and resources effectively.
- Balance technical expertise with people management skills, including coaching, performance management, and resource allocation. High level of technical expertise with experience in numerous complex and prestigious projects.
- Collaborate with S&E leads in key regions (e.g., Middle East and UK) to deliver high-quality services and strengthen AtkinsRéalis’ reputation as a trusted sustainability and environmental partner. Skilled in communicating complex concepts to diverse stakeholders, including clients and regional leadership.
- Manage multiple client projects and relationships, driving repeat business and identifying new opportunities for growth.
- Support development of team strategies and creation of detailed plans in collaboration with key regions. Manage resources, budgets, and timelines.
- Leading creation / implementation of technical innovation to drive efficiencies across the business. Identify market trends, assess potential disruptions, and lead the development of long-term innovation plans.

About you
- Independently lead and manage the S&E team to support key regional markets, including the ME with supporting the UK.
- Oversee project execution and task delivery, managing day-to-day operations, team utilization, and resource allocation to meet regional requirements.
- Ensure technical excellence and high-quality outputs through rigorous review and QA/QC of S&E team’s deliverables.
- Ongoing assessment and consideration of current and potential new service lines within S&E to ensure they are fit-for-purposes and aligned with key market expectations.
- Provide clear career development pathways for S&E staff, monitor and track performance goals and conduct performance reviews.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to team members, contributing towards raising & promoting the level of technical excellence.
- Assess the competency of the S&E team, ensure succession planning is embedded in the team and provide L&D opportunities including professional membership and chartership.
- Lead and oversee select projects and bids independently, ensuring strategic alignment and quality delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across AtkinsRéalis to support complex regional projects and integrated solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to drive business growth and generate new opportunities.
- Foster client retention through proactive engagement and high-quality service delivery.
- Champion innovation and digital transformation by introducing technologies and process improvements that enhance efficiency and client value, while promoting a forward-thinking approach to sustainable solutions.
