Salary: $91,026 - $108,691 (Plus 12.5% Super)

About the Role: We have an exciting opportunity for haematology laboratory scientists to join our Hematology team at Canberra Health Services. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work across the Haematology, Coagulation and Transfusion functions within the pathology team. As part of this team, you will interface with clinical wards within the transfusion unit, seeing the direct impact of your work when assisting with critical cases and routine transfusions. Under the supervision of the Senior Scientist, you will conduct analysis across all three functions, as well as participate in external quality assessment programs. Within transfusion testing, you will perform antibody screening and cross matching, and within coagulation you will perform routine coagulation procedures, and record results. You will have the opportunity to grow within this role with weekly Hematology educational groups on offer, and also having exposure to specialised bone marrow transplant and Immunophenotyping testing.

We are seeking an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working within a cohesive and supportive team. You will have exceptional communication skills and have the ability to work well under pressure to be adaptable to a changing and progressive environment to support positive patient outcomes. The successful candidate will be suitably qualified with a relevant tertiary science degree and have previous experience working in a diagnostic laboratory.

This position will require the applicant to work on a rotating roster, that includes out of hours shifts, to support the 24/7 operation of the laboratory.

Pathology allowance may apply, if applicable as defined in the ACT Public Sector Health Professional Enterprise Agreement, Section C.

Note: A merit pool may be established from this recruitment process and will remain valid for 12 months. This pool may be used to fill both permanent and temporary positions across CHS.
