Salary

£24,794 FTE (Actual Salary £23,014.20)


As our Hair and Beauty Receptionist/Technician, you will support student learning and provide a safe working environment for students, preparing equipment and materials for students within the practical workspace environment, and maintain stock and stores in an efficient manner.

Responsibilities of our Hair and Beauty Receptionist/Technician:

  • Organisation of practical workspace areas to ensure effective utilisation of space and realistic work simulations and prepare materials for use by students including training aids and learning resources.
  • Work as a receptionist on Salon QG and act as a customer advisor ensuring a friendly and welcoming response at all times to customers, potential customers and visitors to the college.
  • To accurately book appointments for hair and beauty treatments and maintain clients records.
  • Organisation of practical workspace areas to ensure effective utilisation of space and realistic work simulations and prepare materials for use by students including training aids and learning resources.
  • Contribute fully to the membership of course teams, attending staff meetings and liaising with staff on individual student’s progress and support needs.
  • To order, display and sell retail products within Salon QG reception.
  • To market Salon QG and grow clientele. To support with notice boards, price lists and other promotional activities for Salon QG.
  • Ensure that practical learning environments, equipment, machines and plant comply with health and safety requirements, identifying necessary actions and reporting through line management.
  • Assist in the maintenance of records of individual student progress where appropriate, including maintaining records of student attendance and initial assessment.
  • Ensure that consumables, materials, preparation and stock control are available and prepared to the required level in practical learning environments.
  • Deliver taster sessions and attend open events as required.

What we’re looking for in our Hair and Beauty Receptionist/Technician:

  • Minimum Level 2 Maths & English
  • NVQ 2/3 or equivalent in Hair and/or Beauty
  • First aid qualification or willing to work towards
  • A knowledge and understanding of various qualifications within Hair and Beauty
  • Recent experience of subject specialism - Hair and Beauty
  • Able to work across the age and ability range in classroom, workshop and one to one situation.
  • Administrative and record keeping skills
