Hairdresser Contract – Manor Grange Care Home
Position Overview
Manor Grange Care Home, a purpose-built 83-bed care home in Pinkhill, Edinburgh, is seeking a qualified Hairdresser to join our dedicated team. We provide Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Respite, and Palliative care in a supportive environment where your role will significantly enhance residents’ wellbeing, confidence, and daily experiences.
Working Conditions & Package
- Hourly rate: £12.98 per hour
- Contract hours: 30 hours per week (8-week pilot, potentially extendable)
- Benefits:

- 5.6 weeks’ annual leave (pro-rated based on full-time equivalent)
- Vetting: [Payment of PVG Scheme check fee will be reimbursed shortly after starting]
Role Responsibilities
As our Hairdresser, you will:
- Support residents in maintaining healthy hair and personal presentation, boosting confidence and dignity.
- Provide a range of services, including hair washing, cutting, styling, and grooming, tailored to individual needs.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming salon environment, maintaining strict hygiene and professional standards.
- Collaborate with the care team and residents to build positive relationships and deliver compassionate support.
- Work independently and collaboratively, managing appointments and accommodating residency schedules.

What We’re Looking For
Requirements
- Qualified Hairdresser with proven experience (one year or equivalent recommended).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with vulnerable adults.
- A caring, patient, and respectful approach when assisting residents.
- Good hygiene and health and safety knowledge, including understanding of infection control.
- Ability to work flexibly, including managing appointments and demanded higher-request situations.
