Hairdressing Apprentice

As a Level 2 Hairdressing Apprentice, you will learn professional salon skills while working alongside experienced stylists. Gain hands-on experience, attend college training, and develop the knowledge needed to build a successful career in the hair industry.

Requirements

  • GCSE in Maths (grade 4/C)
  • GCSE in English (grade 4/C)
  • Communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and provide excellent customer service
  • Assist stylists during client appointments
  • Shampoo, condition and treat hair and scalp
  • Prepare clients for cutting, colouring and styling services
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic salon environment
  • Prepare and mix hair colouring products under supervision
  • Support with blow-drying, styling and finishing hair
  • Manage appointments and assist with client consultations
  • Replenish products and maintain salon presentation
  • Learn new hairdressing techniques from experienced stylists
  • Complete the Level 2 Hair Professional Apprenticeship standard
  • Attend college on a day-release basis at South Hampshire College Group
  • Receive hands-on training in the salon alongside experienced stylists
  • Build a portfolio of work to demonstrate your learning and progress
  • Receive regular reviews and support from a Professional Trainer
  • Complete an end-point assessment to achieve the apprenticeship qualification

Benefits

  • Wage: £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age. National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices. Your salary will increase over the duration of your apprenticeship in line with the government requirements.
  • Training course: Hairdressing professional (level 2)
  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent role within the salon and the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Advanced & Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship to further develop your skills.
