Handyman
Carpenter – Modular Buildings (Joinery, Repair & Maintenance)
Location: Teesside / North East / North Yorkshire Duration: 8–12 weeks (Initial) Start Date: ASAP Salary: £19.10 per hour Type: PAYE Position
About the Role
A dynamic opportunity to work as a Carpenter in a modular building environment, delivering joinery, repair, and maintenance services across construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out joinery works within modular buildings, including:
- Installation, alteration, and finishing of walls, doors, frames, partitions, flooring, and fixtures
- Assembling prefabricated units and ensuring high standards of finish
- Undertake planned and reactive maintenance across office and welfare units, ensuring structures remain safe, functional, and client-compliant.
- Identify and diagnose defects, damage, or wear and tear, completing accurate repairs in a timely manner.
- Perform basic multi-trade tasks where required (e.g., minor plumbing, decorating, fixture replacement) to support overall site operations.
- Work from drawings, specifications, and method statements, ensuring adherence to regulations, company standards, and project tolerances.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment, including effective site housekeeping.
- Operate and maintain tools, plant, and equipment safely and legally.
- Liaise with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to coordinate tasks efficiently.
- Complete necessary documentation, including job sheets, risk assessments, and inspection records.
- Strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies on UK construction sites.

Skills & Experience
Essential Criteria
✅ Proven experience in joinery/carpentry or a similar trade, ideally within modular, offsite, or temporary building environments. ✅ Demonstrated competence in installation/finishing of doors, partitions, flooring, and internal lockwork. ✅ Experience in building repairs and basic multi-skilled tasks (e.g., light electrical, decorating). ✅ Sound understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and site instructions. ✅ Valid CSCS Card (or equivalent trade certification). ✅ Knowledge of UK construction health & safety protocols, including risk assessments. ✅ Experience working on active construction or industrial sites. ✅ Full UK driving licence.
Desirable (Not Mandatory, but a Bonus!)
➤ Relevant NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry & Joinery, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
