About the Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our ETAAS team at Home, a leading provider of support to individuals experiencing street homelessness. The role focuses on delivering practical, hands-on maintenance and repair work, essential to sustaining our 19-bed hostel in Exeter city centre.
You’ll step in to ensure minor or emergency repairs, decorating, and cleaning tasks are carried out efficiently, allowing us to keep people off the streets without unnecessary delays.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Perform minor or emergency repairs, including decorating and cleaning in properties and communal areas
- Hanging curtain poles
- Moving furniture
- Touching up paint
- Changing washers
- Unblocking sinks
- Clearing grounds
- Undertake regular fire safety checks
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and customers
- Liaise with the Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and follow up on repairs outside your core remit

Requirements & Preferences
Skills & Background
- Multi-skilled Practical Support: Experience in general maintenance, a bit of carpentry, basic plumbing, and the confidence to use tools like a paintbrush or broom
- Customer Interaction: Comfortable working and communicating with diverse groups of people
- Tech Literacy: Ability to use technology for reporting repairs, admin tasks, and record keeping
Requirements for Logistics
- Vehicle Insured for Business Purposes: You’ll need a vehicle, but we’ll reimburse business mileage
- Personal drive: Team player with a can-do attitude embracing range and enthusiasm

Commitments & Checks
- Location & Flexibility: Days and times are flexible to meet customer needs; you’ll be based in Exeter, with occasional travel outside the patch for emergencies
- Enhanced DBS Check: Mandatory for this role (we cover the cost), often needed for roles involving vulnerable people and customer interactions
