Handyperson

Salary: £26,300 per annum

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw), Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm

Location: Durham and Wearside

We have a brilliant opportunity to join our fantastic Older Persons team as Handyperson for our incredible services. We are the multi-skilled hands-on practical support that helps our colleagues deliver services to our customers.

We work with customers who live in our sheltered accommodation services, across a mix of services and grounds. As our handy person, you’ll spend much of your time working across the 9 wonderful locations that we have.

What you'll do

  • Perform minor or emergency repairs, decorating and cleaning in properties and communal areas.
  • Handle tasks like hanging curtain poles, moving furniture, touching up paint, changing washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns and clearing grounds.
  • Carry out regular fire safety checks.
  • Work with colleagues, contractors, and customers.
  • Liaise with Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and follow up on repairs outside your remit.

You have

  • A team player with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm.
  • General maintenance know-how, a bit of carpentry, basic plumbing, and confidence with a paintbrush or broom
  • Comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life.
  • Ability to use technology for updating records, training, emails, and taking photographs.
  • To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll provide you with a Home Group vehicle!

The practical bits

  • We mainly work Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm, but we’re flexible as long as we meet our customer’s needs.
  • You'll be based at Clarence Court, Spennymoor, and travel around the properties in our local area mostly in Durham and Sunderland.
  • Occasionally you'll head outside the patch for all hands on deck situations.
  • You’ll need a Standard DBS check, we pay for it.
