About the Role
We can’t offer a cost-of-living adjustment for this role.
We are looking for a multi-skilled, hands-on Handyperson to join our fantastic ETAAS team. You'll provide essential support to help our colleagues deliver outstanding services to customers who have experienced street homelessness in a 19-bed hostel in Exeter city centre.
Your role involves ensuring quick, safe, and reliable maintenance work so we can continue to address urgent needs and support vulnerable individuals off the streets without delay.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Performing minor or emergency repairs, decorating, and cleaning in properties and communal areas.
- Handling practical tasks such as:
- Hanging curtain poles
- Moving furniture
- Touching up paint
- Changing washers
- Unblocking sinks
- Clearing grounds
- Conducting fire safety checks on a regular basis.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues, contractors, and customers.
- Liaising with the Customer Service Centre to report additional repairs outside your remit and follow up on them.

Requirements
We are looking for candidates who can:
- Demonstrate a team player attitude with a can-do mentality and enthusiasm.
- Possess general maintenance know-how, including:
- Basic carpentry
- Plumbing skills
- Confidence in using tools like a paintbrush or broom.
- Be comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life.
- Be proficient in basic technology use for reporting repairs, managing admin tasks, and maintaining records.
- Have access to and are insured to use a vehicle for business purposes (mileage reimbursement available).
Additionally:
- You’ll need to obtain an Enhanced DBS check, which Home Group will sponsor and pay for.
