I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Our customers are at the heart of what we do. That means we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, brings a positive “can‑do” attitude, and always delivers great customer service. You’ll keep residents updated, work safely and efficiently, and be part of a supportive team who look out for one another.
It’s a varied, active role, so you’ll need to be comfortable with manual work and confident using hand tools and basic equipment. You’ll also have experience in domestic maintenance or housing repairs and a willingness to learn new skills as you go.
You’ll be using a tablet/PDA to keep track of your jobs, update records, and help us stay organised, so being comfortable with simple digital systems will really help. A full driving licence is essential, as you’ll be covering Horndean, Petersfield, Alton, and Southampton to support customers in their homes.
