Hard Services Manager

Job Description
This role is primarily based at Gloucester Police HQ and Shepherds Road Fire & Rescue site.
The challenge you’ll be stepping into
You’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and delivery of Hard FM services on a complex, operational site.
This isn’t about firefighting for the sake of it. It’s about:
Taking ownership of planned and reactive maintenance Ensuring statutory compliance is robust, visible and audit‑ready Leading engineers and specialist subcontractors with clarity and confidence Supporting lifecycle and project activity so assets remain fit for purpose Acting as a trusted deputy to the Contract Manager when required
You’ll be close to the detail, but with enough autonomy to make improvements stick.
What You’ll Be Trusted To Do
Own and manage the maintenance and compliance programme, ensuring safety and performance are never compromised Lead and develop the on‑site engineering team, setting clear expectations and standards Manage M&E subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, compliantly and to specification Support the delivery of lifecycle and project works from planning through to completion Carry out internal audits against M&E, statutory and SFG20 standards Be a visible, credible technical lead on site

What We’re Really Looking For
Rather than a long wish‑list, we’re keen to speak to people who can demonstrate:
Essential
Strong experience in Hard FM / maintenance management at management level Hands‑on knowledge of statutory compliance, including fire and water regulations Experience working to SFG20 standards Understanding of lifecycle and project delivery in a live environment Working knowledge of BMS systems Confidence leading engineers and managing specialist subcontractors
Desirable
A recognised technical qualification Experience within PFI or similarly complex contracts
If you’ve been operating as a Hard Services Manager, Engineering Manager, or Senior Supervisor ready for more ownership, we’d like to talk.
