Hardware Engineer
Hardware Engineer – Defence Technology
Hampshire | £80,000
We're looking for a Hardware Engineer to join a dynamic team delivering innovative technology solutions for Defence customers. This role involves designing, deploying, and supporting hardware and infrastructure that underpin mission-critical systems and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure environments
- Support hardware development, deployment, testing, and demonstrations
- Design and implement LAN, WAN, and VLAN networks
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments
- Manage virtualisation platforms such as VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V
- Configure and maintain firewall platforms and security controls
- Manage hardware lifecycle activities, upgrades, and capacity planning
- Maintain hardware inventory, asset tracking, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with technical teams and engage with customers and stakeholders

About You
- Proven experience delivering and supporting hardware and infrastructure solutions in Defence, government, or commercial environments
- Strong knowledge of networking, hardware, virtualisation, and Windows/Linux administration
- Experience supporting systems in live operational environments
- Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and security best practices
- Comfortable communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration and source control tools is desirable
