Hardware Validation Engineer

Hardware Validation Engineer

Bringing the World’s Most Capable Humanoid Robots to Life

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. With HMND-01 Alpha — our rapidly developed humanoid platform running in real industrial pilots — we’re growing our team to take the next step.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Validation Engineer to own and develop the in-house test infrastructure responsible for validating our humanoid robots. This is a hands-on, foundational role where you won’t just run tests—you’ll build the rigs and equipment required to validate our robots, from concept to implementation.

This role requires collaboration with systems owners to define validation needs, specifying the precise test equipment, mechanical fixturing, or electrical instrumentation required. You will be responsible for designing, sourcing, and building these solutions, ensuring a traceable and scalable validation process.

Key Responsibilities

Test Rig & Jig Development

  • Design and commission in-house test rigs and jigs for validating subsystems (e.g., arms, actuators, perception modules) as well as full robot systems.
  • Select whether to build vs. buy components — defining technical specs for procurement and customisation.
  • Develop custom endurance and stress rigs, including:
    • Arm cyclers to simulate repetitive movements.
    • Actuator loaders for testing limits.
    • Cable flex and battery test setups.
    • Joint and articulation endurance rigs.

Scope & Requirements Definition

  • Work closely with systems owners to align validation objectives with product roadmaps.
  • Translate technical needs into validation plans, ensuring coverage and robustness.
  • Develop supplier specifications, including:
    • PCB test beds and fixture platforms.
    • Sensor/logging infrastructure for data capture.
    • Power and battery test setups.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Procurement & Supplier Coordination

  • Source standard COTS components, third-party test equipment, and custom fabricated parts.
  • Negotiate and coordinate supplier lead times (and costs) to align with our validation schedule.
  • Own the budget landscape for test infrastructure.

Mechanical & Electrical Design

  • Mechanical:
    • Model rig frames, fixtures, motion stages, and mounts in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or similar CAD tools.
    • Specify fabrication and manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC, 3D printing, welding).
  • Electrical:
    • Design power distribution, sensor integration, and control electronics.
    • Draft schematics, wiring harnesses, and BOMs for electronics.

Reliability & Compliance Support

  • Support HALT/HASS, MTBF, and environmental testing (e.g., shock, vibration, thermal).
  • Ensure validation rigs and systems contribute to regulatory compliance (EMC, safety, environmental requirements).
  • Integrate validation protocols with certification pathways (IEC 61000, CE, UL, FCC).

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 5+ years in hardware validation, test engineering, or test equipment development, preferably in robotics, automotive, or aerospace.
  • Hands-on experience building and commissioning test rigs from concept to operational deployment.
  • CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, NX) and understanding of mechanical components (bearings, linear stages, actuators, sensors).
  • Comfortable designing electrical rigs, wiring harnesses, and instrumentation systems (bolt connectors, DAQs).
  • Experience translating validation requirements into practical test infrastructure for other teams.
  • Strong supplier sourcing and procurement skills, including custom fabrication and cost estimation.
