Summary
Summary of the Hazard Evaluation Technician role
As the Hazard Evaluation Technician, you will be required to deliver high-quality laboratory testing and technical analysis that supports the Hazard Evaluation team in developing safe, scalable, and robust chemical processes for new and existing products. You will also be required to support the Hazard Evaluation group, for processes that may not be supported by the wider department.
Based at our site in Cramlington, you will work a day shift pattern, Monday to Friday.
Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate with process chemists, analytical chemists, and chemical engineers to investigate process safety questions and support continuous improvement.
- Analyse, trend, and present experimental data, producing clear technical summaries and maintaining accurate electronic laboratory records.
- Carry out analytical testing to support Hazard Evaluation activities using appropriate analytical techniques and interpret results to support project decisions.
- Carry out lab experiments to facilitate the test programs for Hazard Evaluation assessments of NPI and process improvement projects.
- Thermal stability testing (DSC, ARC)
- Solids handling testing (MIE, MIT, static chargeability, burning characterisation)
- Waste stream assessment (pH, viscosity, and micro-reaction calorimetry)
- Evaluate tests in accordance with the relevant SOP and record all data in the appropriate ELN.
- Ensure all lab instruments are appropriately calibrated and maintained in line with the relevant SOP.

Requirements For The Role
- Minimum BSc (or equivalent) in Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related chemical discipline
- Previous experience in a chemical laboratory or process development environment
- Operate to cGMP
- Excellent laboratory and analytical skills
- Good communication skills
